03. June 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Oberhofen, 3rd June 2021 - The World Snow Day Awards recognise the best World Snow Day events and actions from the 2021 season. The awards are handed out every two years and consist of four categories.

To enter an event for an award, each Organiser submitted their World Snow Day report which served as their nomination form. Each report was then judged against the criteria for the various award categories’ criteria. A full list of the judging criteria can be found here www.worldsnowday.com/awards

For this edition of the World Snow Day Awards 43 of the 103 events entered. The results are as follows:

LINE HONORS
Winner: Le Club de Ski de Fond d'Evain (CAN)
Prize: 1’000 chf

The line honors category recognises the first event to register for World Snow Day which always takes place on the 1st July at 08:00am (CET) each year. It is a tight race in which the winner is decided my mere seconds. For the 2021 edition the winner was Le Club de Ski de Fond d'Evain of Canada.

MOST CREATIVE WORLD SNOW DAY
Winner: The Korean Ski Association (KOR)
Prize: Film crew to film their next World Snow Day

One of the cornerstones of World Snow Days success is the creativity of the Organisers. This year creativity was key as many Organisers faced Covid-19 restrictions. In the end the winner was World Snow Day Korea by the Korean Ski Association who, due to lockdowns, delivered specially designed packages to World Snow Day participants. Each package, called The Happy Snow Box, contained toys and materials for kids to build their own World Snow Day at home.

BEST SMALL WORLD SNOW DAY
Winner: Peruano SandSnow (PER)
Prize: 2’000 chf

Over the course of three editions of the World Snow Day Awards, the Best Small World Snow Day category has become the category with the most entries. In this edition of the Best Small World Snow Day, four events were clear standouts and after three rounds of judging could only be separated by a point each. Club Peruano SandSnow from Peru with their event in Pozo Santo Paracas took the top spot by only one point from World Snow Day Korea (KOR), World Snow Day Weekend by Ski Dubai (UAE) and World Snow Day Sofia by WWW.SKI.BG in second and third places respectively. This is the 7th World Snow Day for Peruano SandSnow but their first win in the World Snow Day Awards.

BEST WORLD SNOW DAY
Winner: KidsSport and Kis Somlyó Ski (ROM)
Prize: 10’000 chf

The Best World Snow Day category recognises events and actions for over 500 participants. Winning the category on its own is no small feat however this year was particularly difficult given Covid-19 restrictions. World Snow Day Csíkszereda (ROM) by KidsSport and Kis Somlyó Ski took the title this year. This was the first World Snow Day event for KidsSport and Kis Somlyó Ski. Whats more is that the event shows a lot of promise and growth potential which can be accelerated by winning the Award.

FIS President Gian Franco Kacper remarked “After 10 years of World Snow Day it is humbling to see how far these events have come. My congratulations to each of the winners and sincere thanks to all the nominees.”

Looking ahead the next edition of the World Snow Day Awards is confirmed for World Snow Day 2023. All results have been published on the World Snow Day website (link below) along with each of the winners nomination forms.
